Attention CASBO Members – CASBO is now awarding 10 CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) for participants who successfully complete the EIA CIO certification program.

The Education Innovation Alliance (EIA) & Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) certification program is intended to teach both non-technical and technical leaders about Innovation and Technology so they can better lead their districts through technology related initiatives and challenges. Understanding common mistakes, best practices, communication strategies, policies, and building an ongoing network of support with peers and experts is a best practice in dealing with current challenges and those to come.

Each district team or individual attendee will work with experts throughout the 8 month course to build a solution to a technology challenge, or drive an innovation / technology initiative in their district. The knowledge gained through this problem solving exercise will provide attendees with tools needed to meet future challenges and drive technology related initiatives throughout your career. See what EIA Cohort 1 Alumni thought about the experience below.

Participants will:

  • Receive a CIO digital badge certification upon presentation of the Capstone Education Technology Project Plan. The plan will provide an innovative solution to resolve a real technology challenge that a district is facing now.

  • Learn about common problems facing districts and collaborate on ideas for innovative solutions.

  • Gain an understanding of how technology impacts all departments within the district and learn strategies to unite departments around the district’s technology vision.

  • Grow their knowledge regarding current and future trends, network infrastructure, and technology terms.

  • Develop a greater understanding of Future Ready, ESSA, and the infrastructure components for those initiatives.

  • Foster a general understanding of technology funding and other programs such as E-rate.

  • Benefit from education and industry thought leaders sharing how to successfully engage stakeholders in order to create and implement a technology related initiative.

The program is delivered with state of the art technology tools in a blended learning environment, requiring work on your own time as well as scheduled meetings with industry experts and peers. We have 4 face to face sessions along with 12 online flipped learning sessions, you will watch a recorded session with an education expert, the cohort will come together on a live webex collaboration “ask the expert” session. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.  One of the things I like about it brings people together from all around the state.  We are all struggling with it (technology) but because we have so many experts in the room we are learning from each other.”
